Cartoon Cake Decorating class using Buttercream & Fondant

Indulge in the art of  creating a cartoon cake using a mixture of buttercream and fondant.

Whether you're a baking enthusiast looking to expand your skills or an intermediate cake decorator eager to learn the basics, this class is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth and a love for decorating. Join us and turn your cake into edible works of art! 

Basic info : 5.20 pm arrival for a 5.30 pm start on Monday 10th March 2025.  Allow  2.5 -3 hours. No baking involved. Take home your work of art = 1 x cake and newfound knowledge

On arrival we will have your work station set up with all the tools you need to decorate.

Beccy will be sharing her techniques, tips and hints through the class.

Buttercream / Colours - We will colour buttercream in either pale yellow, purple or blue which will be the main coloured part of our cake.Then we will create a crumb coat and a decorative coat with buttercream which involves two main steps: sealing in the crumbs and then applying a smooth finish.

Piping techniques -  How to fill a piping bag like a pro - the mess free way, which piping tips to use for cartoon style balls.

Fondant - Create cartoon-style edges to give the fondant a more exaggerated, playful look by using a fondant cutter,mimicking the playful lines often seen in cartoons.Then we will drape the fondant over the cake. Time permitting we can create shapes to attach to the side of the cake as well as fondant balls to top the cake.

Decorating - Learn how to finish your cake by piping black buttercream along the edges of everything! This will capture the cartoon look and is a time consuming part of our decorating class.

Beccy is self taught baker and cake decorator with a wealth of knowledge and enthusiam. Her passion is in the detail and many hours are enjoyed decorating cupcakes and cakes. She is one of our regular teachers offering a variety of classes. 

You will leave this class feeling confident about your newfound knowledge that can be used on future decorating for cakes and cupcakes.

Important Info:

• Images used are our inspiration guide. Colours and patterns will vary!
• Please bring a water bottle and wear closed in shoes.
• Long hair to be tied back.
• An apron will be supplied.
• This class is suitable for ages 14 - 80 years (If your teenager is booking and you would like to stay please let me know when making the booking as we will need to accommodate extra space)
• Our venue is approved by the Bunbury City Council for classes
• Classes are held at 3/7 Hennessy Rd (our Bunbury store)
• Full Payment is required to secure your place
• If you need to cancel, we will hold a credit for a future class if cancelled earlier than 3 weeks before the class
• If cancellation is within 3 weeks all monies will be forfeited
• If we need to cancel due to lack of numbers or illness we will provide a full refund.
